So we have a new President...
So what?
We still have a capitol building full of self-advancing career politicians.
We still have the military war machine.
We still have a Godless man in the White House (metaphorically...he probably won't spend too much time there).
We still have our national sin of abortion (and, no, I have no hopes that Trump will contribute to the outlaw of that crime).
We still have an enormous national debt and an ever-climbing debt ceiling.
We still have billionaires pulling the puppet strings (we just have one of them in the actual Oval Office now, too).
We still have the Department of Education.
We still have the IRS.
We still have the Federal Reserve.
We still have Supreme Court justices bent on imposing their ideals onto the Constitution.
We still have an alarmingly ignorant and immoral populace.
You remember when you turned 18 and you felt pretty much exactly like when you were 17? Then you turned 20 and you felt the same as when you were a teenager? And so on and so forth? Yeah, that's what I feel like when another president gets in the office. Not only do I generally refrain from placing my hope in men, but I especially make it a point not to invest any sort of expectation in the ascent of a new president. Life will go on pretty much like it used to. My life will be minimally impacted either way. Big government will still impose it's will on the little guys and my dollar will still be inflated to the point of irrelevance.
So, forgive me for not being too excited for the reign of our next emperor...oops...I mean president.

But we do have new hope that a new president with a wholy different philosophy than the previous one will allow our country to change direction, and with God's guidance, may turn this great nation to a path of healing. And with great respect for you brother, are you certain you know that this man is (still) a Godless man? The last time I looked, only God can truly judge a Godless man? Love you brother
ReplyDeleteI can understand the hope you have, but I am a little bit too cynical for it. I don't think the powers that be would allow anyone in office who can really effect change. Of course only God can read the heart, but Jesus told us that we will be able to judge people by their fruit. His conversion seems a little too convenient and has yet to be demonstrated by any evidence. The religious language he has used has made me think he has little acquaintance with the Gospel.
