It's that time of year again!  The days are getting noticeably shorter,  first day pictures are cluttering up our social media timelines, and those ugly yellow buses are making us late for work again.  A new school year has begun!  It's an exciting time--it's a scary time--as students, parents, and teachers embark on new adventures and experience new first s. It's also the time of year when people begin to notice that some kids don't get on those yellow buses every morning.  Strangers wonder why your kids are at the park during normal school hours or why they look confused when asked, "What grade are you in?"  It's the time of year that homeschoolers start to stick out (well, even more than they usually do). My goal here today is not to tell other parents how to raise their children.  That's not my job, nor, I suspect, would anyone listen anyway.  My goal is to offer a reasoned explanation of why our family chooses to educate our children priv...

There is a generation of young Christians who believe that their political and social worldview is informed by the principles of Scripture, particularly by the direct teachings of Jesus Christ, but who have actually imbibed the tenets of Humanistic Marxism taught to them in government schools and leftist colleges. Conversely, there is an older generation, Boomers , if you will, who believe that they lay claim to the truly Biblical worldview, but who actually hold to the religious politic (or political religion) of American Nationalism . These views are, of course, not strictly differentiated by generation, but there is nevertheless a large generational divide when discussing political and social issues. The Biblical perspective aligns perfectly with neither of these ideologies, nor with any other political movement.  In fact, devotion to Biblical principles regarding political and social issues does not require adherence to any specific economic, social, or political system devise...

It seems like almost daily I see a meme on Facebook complaining that the American education system is teaching reading, writing, and arithmetic instead of life skills.  As our nation becomes more aware of the broken promises of higher academia, social media is being inundated with a flood of articles promoting a focus on trades and home economics in lieu of Algebra and ancient literature.  Millennials are especially vocal as they remind everyone that their failures are not their fault because they were never taught how to budget, to pay taxes, etc. Well, guys, I have some news for you. Uncle Sam ain't yer daddy!  Betsy Ross ain't yer momma!
